Students of the Week

Isabella and Leonardo were the latest Celebrities of the Week! They got to sit in my big red rocking chair and share something with the class. They both chose stuffed animals that they sleep with. Isabella told us she likes to play with her dolls and eat pizza! Leonardo told us he likes to play legos and eat chicken nuggets!

Happy Birthday Eli

We Celebrated Eli's 6th birthday this week! Happiest of birthday to Eli!

Recap of the Week

We've been busy the last two weeks finishing benchmark assessments, learning our last few letters and becoming independent students.

In reading and writing we learned the difference between Fiction and Non-Fiction books. We learned about text features and explored books on polar bears.

In math, we met two new friends! Their names are Andy Addition and Squeakel the Equal sign. They are helping us learn how to add.

We also met a new friend in writing. His name is the Spaceman! He helps us put spaces between our words when we write.
We've also been working really hard to master our sight words to make us stronger readers. Here we are working with partners reading the 27 words we've learned!

We had our third grade buddies visit our classroom to read to us, and listen to us read! We had so much fun!

Thanks to Mrs. Munnelly's class for being great role models for us!

Thank you to Mrs. Ladd for being our second Mystery Reader of the year. Maya was so surprised!

There is so much learning going on in Room 210! Benchmark Literacy Assessments info will be sent home this week.

A Look Back On Our Week

The blog has taken a backseat lately and I apologize! January is always a busy month, and I have  thrown in wedding planning and it is crazy! :)

Lets take a look back on what we did last week.

We kicked off the week with a birthday celebration. Jacob turned 6!
He was so lucky because his dad was our first Mystery Reader on his birthday!
If you wish to be a Mystery Reader, please email me or message me on Dojo. Jacob was so surprised, it was so cute!

We took a trip to the Ferguson Library on a PURPLE bus! We toured the library and listened to some winter stories.

We talked about what a New Year's resolution was. We came up with some goals for 2019, and reviewed our goals we set in September 2018.

Here are some of our resolutions:

Eli would like to see more nature.

Rafael wants to learn how to play  basketball.
Francesca wants to help and share with friends.

Vanessa wants to listen to her teacher!

We welcomed a new friend named Thiago to our class!

And on Friday, Kori was our Celebrity Student of the Week! She told the class her favorite food is pizza and French fries and when she's not at school she loves to play with her LOL Dolls! She brought in a slinky to show her friends.

What a fabulous week in Room 210!!

Up next...

We will explore non-fiction books about Arctic animals.

Happy 5th birthday to Roni whose birthday was over the break!

End of Year Fun in 2018!

Happy New Year! There has been a slight delay in blogs post due to a computer that wasn't working and a difficult transition back to work after 11 days off!

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and break! The last week of 2018  was filled with exciting activities in kindergarten! Thank you to all of the parents who signed up and donated items to make these events possible!

This was our beautiful hallway display for the month of December. We are hanging onto this beauty for as long as we can, so we swapped out the Christmas tree for our very own gingerbread stories using our December family projects!

We read so many gingerbread stories. We compared these stories by discussing the characters, settings and the ending of the book.
We had our first annual Gingerbread Cookie Decorating! My tots loaded their cookies with so many treats, you could barely see the cookie!

On Friday, we rolled out of bed with our jammies on and came to school for pajama day! We grabbed our golden ticket and boarded the Polar Express. That conductor looks awfully familiar....

We watched the movie, Polar Express and enjoyed chocolate milk and munchkins.

2018, you rocked! Bring it on, 2019!
