Visitors to Room 210

Room 210 has been SO busy the last week with conferences, mystery readers and families sharing holiday traditions.

Our first visitor was Stevie's mom. She came in and read us a story about Hanukkah. We got to play with dreidels and everyone got a goody bag!

Next up was Morgan's mom who came in as our first Mystery Reader! Morgan was so surprised, and the kids loved listening to the Polar Express and The Snowy Day.

On Thursday, the hearing impaired teacher, Ms. Katie was so kind and brought us a special winter craft. You may have seen a snow globe come home with your tots face in it!! Thanks Ms. Katie!

Today, Mrs. Lapolla came in and read a gingerbread story to us! We are loving our gingerbread unit!!

It is not too late if you would like to come in and share a tradition!

Recap & Looking Ahead

We have been so busy in room 210, I forgot to take pictures of my tots last week!
In phonics, we are on letter number 15! Last week, we learned our first digraph (-ch). We are using the letters we have learned so far to blend words and I am SO proud of how hard we are working.

In reader's and writer's we began our new unit on Fairytales. We read Goldilocks and the Three Bears, and compared it to different Versions like Goldilocks and Just One Bear. We also read gingerbread stories like Gingerbread Boy, Girl, Man and Bear.We have started our own fairytale stories using the gingerbread that was created at home. Stay tuned for updates on our writing process!

In math we learned about the "tween" numbers 11 and 12. Next up- the teen numbers!

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are all early release days. Dismissal will begin at 1:20.
Thank you to all of the families who participated in the December family project! The gingerbreads look great in the hallway, and we are using the characters that were chosen to write our own gingerbread stories!

Holiday Traditions

A letter went home this week inviting all families to come in to share a family tradition, craft, story or treat with the class. If you are interested in doing this, please email me at  rtenk@stamfordct.gov. The sooner the better as  December gets very busy!!

Our Week

We learned the letter J this week and two sight words it, and a.  We used these sight words to build sentences and read them in our just right books. We used the letter J on our blending board to make words like jog, jam and  jig and even some silly words like jop and jad!

In reader's and writer's we read more stories about our feelings. We made connections and worked on stretching out words in our writing!

In math, we introduced the numbers 11 and 12. We are loving Dreambox and math stations!

Your assigned conference time and date went home this week. If there is an issue with the time and date, please let me know ASAP.

All scholastic book orders are due Wednesday, December 6th to ensure holiday books are here before the holiday break.

Family gingerbread projects are due Thursday, December 7th.
