Review of the Week!

The life cycles continued this week! We moved on from frogs to butterflies. We discussed similarities and differences between a frog and butterfly, and used paint to make symmetrical butterflies. We also sequenced the steps of the life cycle. 

In addition to learning about animals, we spent some time reading narrative stories and talking about feelings. We are even writing our own feelings book.  We wrote about a time we felt happy. Next week we will write about a time we felt sad, angry and excited.

We continued working with place value, tally marks, number writing, addition and subtraction in math. I also introduced different ways to represent a number. For example drawing a picture of 5 objects if the  number is 5. We came up with 16 different ways to show the number 5!

Sakyra was the Celebrity Of The Week! She brought in her stuffed animal Lisa to share with the class. She told the class she loves to eat meat and when she isn't at home she likes to play with her sister.

We ended the week by singing, or should I say screaming in the rain. Here we are getting caught in the rain from recess. If only you could hear them. :)

Looking Ahead…

Can you believe it…We are learning the last 3 sight words of the kindergarten list! They are, but, how and boy. 

You should be so proud of your child as they have been exposed to 65 sight words!

Important Date *****Monday, May 23rd is Field Day.******

Our class color is purple. Please send your child to school on Monday, the 23rd wearing a purple shirt. 

A letter will be sent home tomorrow with more details.
