O is for Oreo...O's!!

Each week that passes we are getting more and more adjusted to the routines, rules and structured day of kindergarten.

This week, we learned how to partner read. We learned you sit elbow to elbow and knee to knee and look at one book at a time. Here are some pictures of us with our partners!

We learned all about the letter O and made O's out of Oreo O cereal. We got to sample the yummy cereal when we were done with our hard work.

They are also working on learning friend's names. We played The Name Game to look for the letter O, and to help with identifying names.

This was the name project of the week. crinkling tissue paper to strengthen little fingers!

C is for Cupcake...and cookie!

Our first letter of the week was the letter C! We sang songs about the letter c, learned the sound it makes, created a list of C words and read the book, If you Give a Cat a Cupcake. My little learners were so lucky this week, they got mini cupcakes AND Mrs. D made them cookies. We learned a lot of treats begin with the letter C!

we used cotton balls to make our first letter project, and were introduced to dot markers! We used the dot markers to find c's on our maze worksheet.

First Few Weeks of Kindergarten

Welcome to the classroom blog! We now have all the consent forms signed and returned, and can start using the blog.

We had our 11th day of kindergarten on Friday and we have worked on so many things in such a short amount of time! We are learning to greet one another by making contact and learning friends names, we're working on raising our hand, sharing sitting quietly for stories and creating classroom rules together as a kindergarten community.

We read David books and sorted things David shouldn't do at school, and how he should act at school.

We used these ideas to create our classroom rules.

This blog will be used as a weekly newsletter so you can see what happened last week, and what is to come next week.  Here are some photos  from the first few days of school!
