L is for Leaf!
We have picked up the pace in Room 210 and moved to two letters of a week! We learned about the letter P and L last week. We came up with 63 words that begin with the letter P-Way to go kindergarten!
We went on a leaf hunt to find the most colorful leaves at Roxbury. We collected them and brought them back to the classroom for our L project of the week.
In reading and writing we worked really hard on our first stories written and illustrated by your child! My tots brainstormed, drew pictures, sounded out words, labeled their pictures and edited their work. I am so proud of them! These stories are being shared during morning meeting and displayed in the hallway.
Looking Ahead...
Letter of the Week: Tt, Ii
Words of the week: we, to

All turkey projects are due tomorrow!
If you have not returned your book-in-a-bag contract, please do so ASAP so your child can take books home to read!
I would like to recognize Room 210's top readers as of today for the read-a-thon. The read-a-thon is not done so everyone needs to keep reading!
1. Romy 776 minutes
2. Jacob 536 minutes
3. Leonardo 273 minutes
If you are not logging your child's minutes online, please do so! We are currently in third place in all of kindergarten. If we come in first, we earn a class pizza party!

November Family Project
A bunch of turkeys waddled their way out of my classroom yesterday and into my tots mailboxes! Your job is to disguise that turkey so it doesn't get eaten on Thanksgiving! All turkeys are due back to school disguised and decorated by Tuesday, November 13th.
This project is inspired by the children's book, Turkey Trouble by Wendi Silvano.

Here are some photos of my tots all dressed up for the Halloween parade!
The kindergarten teachers joined in on the fun! We dressed up as characters from the series If You Give a Mouse a Cookie!
Happy Halloween from Room 210!

Looking Ahead
Letters of the week: Pp & Ll
Words of the week: look, is
Number of the week: 7
If you have not returned your book-in-a-bag contract, please do so ASAP. Your child can not take home books until the contract is returned. This is a great way to get your child reading just right books, and earning minutes toward the read-a-thon. The kindergarten class with the most minutes read wins a pizza party!
No School, Tuesday November 6th- Election Day
Please be on the look out for the November family project, and a sign up genius for our Thanksgiving feast!

Fall & Halloween Centers
We did so many fun Fall and Halloween centers leading up to the holiday. Here is a glimpse into our literacy and math blocks.
During our literacy block we:
played a letter matching monster game to help with identification of lowercase and uppercase letters.
Used pumpkin miniature erasers to build letters!
Sequenced the lifecycle of a pumpkin.
Our letter of the week was H. H is for...Halloween! We used Halloween stickers to trace the letter H. Peeling the stickers off was so good for my tots fingers to help strengthen them!

In math we used more stickers to make an addition story problem.
We sorted spooky fruit snacks and graphed how many we had of each shape. Then we got to eat the yummy snack.
We used spider erasers to practice one to one counting.
We also had a special visitor, My fiancé, Mr. Jack! He came to help us carve our class pumpkin!
We had so much fun in Room 210!
