D is for Dots and....DOUGHNUTS!
Our letter of the week is Dd. We used DOT markers to trace over the Dd's.
We read the story, If You Give a Dog a Donut and of course... sampled doughnuts! We tasted yummy apple cider doughnuts to go along with our apple theme and letter of the week. We loved the delicious doughnuts!

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
Did someone say Chicka chicka boom boom?! We spent several days this week working with the well known book, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin. We colored and decorated our own coconut trees with our names!
On Thursday, we used pictures to retell the story. We colored, cut and sequenced images from the story.
We continued to work with our names and letters. On Friday, we decorated the first letter of our name and displayed the project in the hall!
Two cheers for Keyrine and Ashley who got their name chosen from the, "Ms. Tenk's Fish Tank". Keep up the kindness!
Looking Ahead...

Reading Tools
We are loving every second of center time! We are working on the sight words me and the this week. What better way to help learn our new words than cool reading tools! We began with a highlighter to find the and me,. Next, we got our googly eyed pointers for our pointer finger! With our "eyes"on the words we were able to point to the words as we read.
We also used fun fish pointers!
Lastly, we worked on letter formation with dry erase markers.
Happy reading!!

Reading Fun!
The past three weeks of school have been spent perfecting classroom routines and rituals. This week, we took some time to focus on reading to self! Each student received a book bin. This is where they keep books they are reading at school. We found a quiet spot around the room and browsed pictures in books. We also looked for the letter O and periods!
We did such a fabulous job of reading to self for 4 minutes, we were ready for partner reading! Here we are knee to knee and elbow to elbow with a friend.
Two cheers for my tots Sophia and Brandon who were "caught" being good this week! On Friday, their name was picked out of Ms. Tenk's Fish Tank and they received a prize from the treasure chest!
Looking ahead...
