We LOVE to Read!

Nothing makes me happier than looking around the room and seeing my tots reading books! They love finding a book, and cozy spot around the room to read to self, or with a partner.

 Check them out!!

Keep up the good work kindergarten!

Recap of the Week!

This week, we read stories about Spring and discussed what spring reminds us of. We made colorful rainbows and clouds to display the vibrant colors seen in Spring.

Some of our favorite stories from this week were, Last One is a Rotten Egg, The Thing About Spring, Click, Clack, Peep and There Was an Old Lazy Who Swallowed a Chick!

We used a sequencing activity on the Promethean Board to help us retell There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Chick. (compliments of the Pre-K teacher, Mrs. Barford!)

In math, we continued to practice 3D shapes, addition and subtraction, as well as place value. We are working very hard on counting groups of 10's and then the one's to get a 2 digit number. This is a difficult skill that we will keep working on!

We used jelly beans to sort and graph. My tots favorite part, eating them of course! I think we can all agree the purple and black jelly beans were their least favorite!

On Wednesday, we spent some time in the computer lab using Dreambox. Wednesday is our computer day. Sometimes we explore Head Sprout. Raz Kids, or abcya.com. All of these can be accessed from home as well.
On Thursday we celebrated Savannah's 6th birthday. Happy Happy Birthday! We are officially done celebrating birthdays in the month of March!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Our shortened day was jam packed with St. Patrick's Day fun! We read stories about the holiday and made leprechauns. We wrote about what we would do if we were a leprechaun.

In math we made graphs using marshmallows from Lucky Charm cereal.

We came back from lunch to quite a mess! Liam the Leprechaun came to our classroom!

 he threw books...
 and dressed up the caterpillar!
He put all of my tots on red!
and made the doll house silly.
We were determined to find that sneaky leprechaun!

 However, he was too quick!
This is the note he left behind!
Little did we know that he really didn't lose a shoe, he tricked us! Maybe we can catch him next year!
We finished our day with a treat from Mrs. Smolarz; yummy green cookies!

Thank you for sending your child to school in green! I loved all of the accessories as well!

Maybe this is the leprechaun we were looking for all along… :)

Fox in Socks Day!

As our Dr. Seuss week winded down, we saved one of my favorite stories for last, Fox in Socks! My tots thought it was so silly when my tongue was twisted while reading this wacky rhyming book! We designed our own socks and hung them on our clothesline.

After lunch, we took our shoes off and showed off our stylin' socks! We strutted our socks through the halls of Roxbury with 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade cheering us on!

We ended the day with a Dr. Seuss cartoon and pretzels!

Dr. Seuss week was a success! Thanks for all of your participation in the fun!
