Character Assembly

A Big Congrats to our 6 Rockin' Rockstars who showed acts of kindness earning them a character charm!

Preview of Thanksgiving

Tomorrow is our much anticipated Thanksgiving feast. Today, we got ready for our feast by making Native American Hats. All of my tots were so excited, the quote "Look at me, I'm Squanto" was heard across Room 202! Here's a sneak peak at some of Room 202's Native Americans.

Thank you to the wonderful Mrs. D for bringing us in special turkey cookies! We got to decorate our turkeys with M&M's marshmallows, sprinkles, chocolate chips and frosting. The best part of all, eating them of course!

If you are bringing something for the feast, feel free to drop it off at Roxbury between 8:45-12:00. The feast is at 12:00, so make sure we have the items by 12, thanks!

Project Donor's Choose

Project Donor's Choose is a site that teachers use to get people to help fund their "projects" for their classrooms. Some projects could be books, centers, furniture or technology.

The project I have created is classroom carpet for morning message, story time and center activities. With the increase in our class sizes this year, our class is very crowded on the carpet. With this large alphabet carpet, we would have personal space and comfort during whole group instruction!
Over the past two years, this site has allowed our classroom to receive an iPad (which the helper uses daily) a display bookshelf, and Common Core Math Centers.

The site is below. Every donation is appreciated, no matter the amount! If donations are made by Saturday, November 28th using the promo code SPARK, the site matches your donation!!

Thank you for everything you do! Help if you can! XOXO

Scholastic Book Order

If you are interested in placing a scholastic book order before the holidays and didn't send an order to school, you can order online using our classroom code!

Here is the link if you are interested.https://orders.scholastic.com/MB22T

I will send home one more Scholastic flyer in early December if you wish to order the regular way before the holidays. There are many series we've read in school that my tots love!! (Pete the Cat, Giggle Giggle Quack, Llama Llama, Pinkalicious) and also, great sight word readers!

Any questions feel free to email me!

Happy Reading!

Week at a Glance!

This week in Room 202 we finished our five senses books! On Tuesday, we got with a partner and did some editing. We added more details and  labels to our pictures.

They were so proud of themselves for finishing their second story! Each day we take turns sharing our stories in the author chair. My little authors and illustrators rock!

Our next story we'll be working on is an all about me book to go along with our non-fiction unit.
We explored many Thanksgiving and turkey books this week, some fiction for fun, and some non-fiction to help explain the meaning of the holiday.

In math we continued to work on those tricky teen numbers, and met my friend Andy Addition!
We learned that Andy helps join two groups together. We made our first addition problem fun by using turkeys and feathers!

Rebecca was our Celebrity of the Week and she brought in her favorite slap on bracelet. She also told her friends that her favorite food is pizza.

Looking Ahead…
Next week's sight words: yes, no
Next week's letter: Kk

There is early dismissal Wednesday, November 25th, and no school Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Please be sure to send your conference slip back to school ASAP so I can begin to make a schedule.

There is a food drive going on at Roxbury. Please send two cans to school with your child so they can participate in the can dance in gym!

Thank you to all of the parents who volunteered to bring items in for our feast. It is going to be great!

Lastly, one of my tots is missing this cozy white vest, and no one will claim it! I thought you might be able to identify it better than them. If it is your child's please just send me an email! :)

Check back next week for pictures of my little Pilgrims and Native Americans!

Raz Kids and Headsprout

I can see many students are able to access RazKids at home which is great! I wanted to let you know there are two games that the students can choose from on the website.

If you go to the site:

https://www.kidsa-z.com/main/Login

It will prompt you for my username which is, rtenk

If you click on your child's name, there is an option for RAZKIDS or HEADSPROUT. Headsprout is phonics activities using letters and sounds.

Please give it a try at home and let me know if you are able to access it!

don't forget about Dreamboxlearning.com  too!

Apex Fun Run

On Monday, a colorful badge went home with your child. This badge was information on our new school fundraiser which is run by the company Apex. The fundraiser is asking parents and families to find sponsors for their students to run laps at the Fun Run which is next Friday the 13th.
For example, if someone wants to sponsor your child they can donate a dollar per lap, or two dollars per lap etc. All of this information is in the pamphlet in the badge. So please be sure to take a look, and log into apexfunrun.com using the access code on the front of the badge! It will look like this:
Apex hosted a pep rally on Monday to get the kids excited for the fundraiser!

Please help raise money for Roxbury!! :)
