Q and U Stick like Glue!

We started our day off with a wedding! Yes, you read that correctly...a wedding! We hosted a ceremony for the letters Q and U. Here are some photos from the lavish wedding!

Jasmin was our Celebrity of the Week! She told us she likes to eat pizza and when she isn't at school, she likes to play with her sister!

The fun wasn't over yet we continued our fun festivities by Isaac celebrating his 6th birthday!

We ended  our fun day in a bitter sweet way. We said goodbye to our friend Daniel who is moving! Today was his last day at Roxbury. We are going to miss him lots.  We all  wished him the best of luck at his new school.

Narrative Writing and February Reminders

Well this week has been short, yet jam packed! With two half days and a snow day, it hasn't left us with much spare time. Here are some pictures of us working on our latest Narrative writing piece. It is a story about our day at school.

 A permission slip was sent home today for our field trip next Friday. We are taking a purple bus to the Ferguson Library! Please return your signed permission slips ASAP!! 

Also, be on the look out for 100th day project flyer (it was day 91 today) and Valentine's Day letter at the beginning of next week.

**We are in need of white paper lunch bags to decorate and collect our valentines! If someone can donate 20 to the class that would be greatly appreciated!***

Character Assembly and Buddy Reading

It sure didn't feel like a short week for the tots in Room 202! Each day this week we had an assembly or activity in the morning. Thursday, we had a Character Assembly. Students were recognized for showing good character, reading over winter break, and perfect attendance! Here are some pictures of the students who received a charm and award.

Today our Pre-K and 3rd grade buddies came to visit and read with us!

We also looked at books throughout the day without our buddies. 

Kevin was our Celebrity of the Week. He brought in lots of figurines to show the kids!

Mother Goose!

Mother Goose came to visit Roxbury today! She shared many of her riddles and rhymes with the entire kindergarten! Many of the tots from Room 202 got to join her on stage!

The rest of us were good sports and hung out from the audience.

 Our schedule is a bit off with no school Monday. Therefore, there is no homework tonight.

Reminder: Please remember to send your child with snack to school everyday. We do not have community snack. Thanks! :)

Change of Clothes

You may have noticed your child came home a bit muddy today. We went outside for recess and it got a little messy. Please remember to send spare clothes back to school after they have been washed. Many students do not have spare clothes in their cubbies anymore. These are important incase of a spill, bathroom accident or in todays' instance, mud!

Homework tonight: X page and Addition page *On the math page, the students are just counting how many circles are in each group. The answer to the addition sentence is already given.*

Happy Friday!

I want to tell you all how proud I am of my little tots this week! We worked hard on our writing (sounding out those words) sight words, word families and math! I bet they are exhausted... I know I am! 

Breanna was our Celebrity of the Week.  She told her friends her favorite food is hotdogs, and when she's not at school she likes to play Frozen. Breanna even brought Elsa to school today. 

Here are some photos of us during math centers using the addition sign! We also talked about Martin Luther King today, and wrote about our heroes.

             Our wish came true this afternoon when the temperature was 39 degrees and we went outside!  Boy oh boy did we have fun! There was a small patch of ice which turned into our "ice skating rink".  In the words of Jordan, " Who would have thought a little bit of ice could be so much fun."

And Elsa joined us too.

Glue Sticks

Help! Room 202 has been doing too many art projects and we are running low on glue sticks! If anyone can donate some large glue sticks (these seem to last the longest), that would be wonderful! Here's a picture of our latest project,  Polar Bears.

No book-in-a-bag tonight. We were super busy and forgot to pick books today! We did however, find some time to dance today. 

Enjoy your evening, and pray for warmer weather so we can dance outside at recess instead of on the carpet! 

New Legos

"Today was the best day ever" was what was heard during indoor recess today! My sister was kind enough to donate more of my nephew's old Legos. So, aside from having a delayed opening, we got new Legos. What more can a 5 year old ask for? Here's a picture of their huge smiles.

Homework tonight: Letter Yy and Math page. Please remember to read, and return your book-in-a-bag. The red hand in the bag is to assist with retelling the story! Book-in-a-bag journals are due by Friday. Remember, only 1 per week.

Last reminder, wear sneakers tomorrow because we have gym! 

We had a great first week back! We practiced our letters and sight words, began our Narrative Unit, and worked with addition and subtraction! Here are some pictures of us working on our own narrative stories about feelings.

Our Celebrity of the Week was Sydney. She shared her Elsa and Ana doll with her friends. She also shared that she loves to eat everything and when she's not at school, she likes to play on her Leap Pad!
